My name is Emily and I adopted Ernie on August 5, 2011 within hours of the home visit. I brought Ernie home and my black lab, Que, eagerly greeted him. I think Ernie was a little scared and unsure. He walked all around the house and would lightly bump into a wall until he had the layout of the room memorized. He fell asleep on the bathroom rug about an hour after I brought him home (even though he had 3 comfy dog beds to choose from!) I was told that Ernie’s foster parents would let him sleep in the bed with them because he was scared of the dark (maybe from his near-blindness) and so he enjoyed a first night’s sleep in my king-size tempurpedic bed. He now sleeps on his super comfy bed on the floor as I feel it’s safer for him to sleep closer to the floor then to possibly fall out of my bed. Ernie is on a senior schedule. He wakes between 5:30 and 7 AM everyday and does his little breakfast march, as I call it. He will start to whine and then bark if he’s not fed soon! Sometimes, he lets me sleep until 8 AM and I thank him with extra treats through the day. Ernie is such a wonderful boy and my heart overflows with love for him. From the first moment I saw him on Petfinder.com, I couldn’t imagine why ANYONE would give him up. I tell him and show him I love him every day and I think he’s a very happy pug.
**UPDATE 12/11/13 – It is with very heavy hearts that we share the news of Ernie’s passing. Our deepest condolences to Emily & all of the hearts that Ernie touched. Rest in peace, sweet boy!
